In those States in which ethnic, religious or linguistic minorities or persons of indigenous origin exist, a child belonging to such a minority or who is indigenous shall not be denied the right, in community with other members of his or her group, to enjoy his or her own culture, to profess and practice his or her own religion, or to use his or her own language.

Article 30 is about protecting minorities as ethnic, religious or linguistic. This is an important right because every culture or group are equal and they should respect each other. The history has shown that protecting these groups are very important.

As an example of ethnical repression is when the Europeans came to America where the Indians already lived and they did not respect their culture. The Europeans pushed the Indians to learn about their culture and language. After some decades the Indian culture was suppressed in a way so it was difficult for the Indians to keep it and some forgot the language. Denmark did the same in Greenland when they forced the children to speak Danish in schools and not to teach Greenlandic.

You would think that this right is common sense, but actually it isn’t. Often the religious minorities have been repressed. Worst case scenario was during the second world war where the Jews became repressed and killed because they belonged to the Jewish minority.
