[NAVN A] Svendborg Handelsgymnasium - G4 English: Letter to a future

Dear Future Daughter

I hope you’re doing good wherever you are and getting ready to face the world I live in.

You have now grown old enough to read this letter, and when you do it, I hope the world is habitable.

But if climate change has made it worse, I'm terribly sorry. I am writing this letter to you because the outside world is a mess. I want you to know so much about it so you're prepared. First, at all, I'm sorry. I'm so sorry that your generation has brought you into this mess.

When I was a little girl, I didn’t see the problem, and I didn’t think about it. Already when I was around 10, the outside world started talking to me as if I was doing something wrong. I didn’t help those who needed us or the climate, which was wrong.

Now you need to listen carefully. There were so many things I didn’t see, and I regret it.

There are many out there who are suffering. Perhaps you have seen it, when you are walking on the street. Some people are living in a slum, they have no money at all. They find their food in trash cans and begging the transient for money. Not many people give them money, food, clothes or anything at all. But they really need help. So dear Patricia, please help them, 2, 5, or 20 crowns, everything can make a difference, even if you think it doesn’t help, does it help them. I had never ever considered giving just 5 crowns because I was selfish and self-centered. Please do not make the same mistake as me.
