He compares pieces of shit with the food the prisoners get to breakfast. In this context, the shit could maybe be the prison guards. The prisoners hate the guard so much, so they called them for that thing they get to breakfast. Maybe the prisoners doesn’t get any food, or if they do, it is really bad food.
