The Me too concept is a social movement, that is against sexual abuse. When a powerful man uses his power and status to get sexual with a woman, is an example of sexually abuse. Many times, the women are afraid too reply and say no to the men. They are maybe afraid, that their boss will fire them, if they do not do what they say. Therefore, many people think of this as a Hollywood problem, but being sexual abused is a worldwide problem. Only in America there are over 33 million women, that have experienced sexual harassment and 14 million of these women, have been sexually harassed in work related incidents. The Me too concept started with an American woman named Alyssa Milano. She started the Me too concept in 2017. Alyssa went out and told the public, that she had been sexually assaulted by a big film director. Afterwards, the Me too concept exploded and a lot of female actors stood up, and told their stories and experiences concerning sexual abuse, from their career and line of work.
But is it okay that the female actors came with those accusations after such a long time?
You can look at it from several different angles. If we look at it from the women’s angle, it could have been, that they were afraid. They were afraid and scared, that it would have ruined their career, if they said that they had been sexually abused at the time. It actually had happened. But to come with an accuse now, of something that may have happened over 10 years back. How much will they be able to remember and how do we know, that they are telling the truth?
