The main character of the graphic novel is Helen, Helen appears very isolated and anxious in the beginning but later on she develops to become more open and free. Helen’s mother seems very controlling over her family and she definitely lacks of empathy for her daughter, which really affects the plot of the story, by the way Helen starts to feel unwanted by her mother as so.

Helen’s father is the main reason for Helens anxiety, it seems like Helen in her youth had a certain positive connection with her father, that he was the one who makes her feels accepted now when her mother did not, but as the father takes advantage of this and starts to do thing to his daughter that no father should, we see who he really, is a molesting abuser, who is the source for much of Helens misery later in her youth. It’s seems like later on that her father tries to ignore the fact that he has ever damage her daughter in anyway, or that there is anything wrong with her as so, which shows us that the father tries to show some kind of conscience, but wont realize that he is guilty at anything.
