Choosing the person that you want to share your life with, is one of the most important decisions many of us make. Since you were a child, you might have dreamed of the perfect wedding and been to other weddings. The time has finally come, and suddenly it is you turn to decide whether you want to get married or not. You have found the right one, but your own opinions, your boyfriend’s opinions, and the society you live in stops you from getting married. In this case a woman named Lena Dunham is facing an important choice, which she writes about in the article, “The bride in her head”.

The traditional marriage is not the only road to happiness. It is your decision, how you will live your life, and who you want to live with. But sometimes it is not easy to decide which can lead to doubt and uncertainty. The main character in the article is the woman, Lena Dona. Her vision is very modern, because she is a very progressive and feministic person: “I like admitting that my feminism and my femininity are not fully formed or in perfect harmony.” Lena Dona represents the life of a woman in a time when traditions and other opinions come in. People started to show their expectations, when it became legal to get married for LGBTQ people. Homosexual teenage guys and girls, her family and friends started to tweet a lot of about that her time has come to get married on the social media. She has a dilemma, where she must make up her own mind about it. Her boyfriend does not want to get married: “I felt unburdened but sad. The subject wasn’t particularly loaded for him. It never would be”. Before it became legal for the LGBTQ people to get married, she did not want to, because she thought it was unfair to them. But now that they can, she suddenly becomes unsure about whether she want or not. Through the article Lena realizes that she may not want to get married, because she has a different view: “I like living in that uncertainty while other people celebrate their hard-won right to have just what they grew up dreaming of, with no caveats”.
