In the first part of the act, Macbeth is portrayed as a respected man. The king of Scotland gives him credits because of the actions on the battlefield. On the battlefield, Macbeth seems fearless and is very brave. Macbeth is also really confused about his future. Three witches predict what will happen soon, and after this, there is no doubt that Macbeth is considering his options and that is kick-starting Macbeth’s ambitions. King Duncan is the current king of Scotland and he has been a gentle and blameless ruler. Macbeth thinks that Duncan is a good and humble king, who eliminates corruption and that he is good for the people. Macbeth, therefore, finds the killing of Duncan difficult, and Macbeth seems frustrated by the whole situation.
Macbeth, created by Shakespeare, is a good person and wants the best for people. Unfortunately, he is surrounded by other people who influence his own decisions. This can be seen, among other things, when Lady Macbeth convinces him that he must kill Duncan so that he can become king of Scotland. The three witches are evil and are only out to cheat Macbeth. Macbeth does not know, and only we readers know. We hear how the witches are going to take revenge on Macbeth. We can also see in this quote that they are vicious, “I myself have all the other, And the very ports they blow; All the quarters that they know I’ th’ shipman’s card. I’ll drain him dry as hay. Sleep shall neither night nor day Hang upon his penthouse lid. He shall live a man forbid. Weary sev’nnights, nine times nine, Shall he dwindle, peak, and pine. Though his bark cannot be lost, Yet it shall be tempest-tossed. Look what I have.”(p. 15, l. 15-26), They talk about how they want to make Macbeth feel pain and how they want to make the journey miserable for him.
