A British guy named Jhon Strong discovered the Falklands in 1690. The British republic was probably not the first to discover the Falkland’s, but they were the first to write it down. The British republic found the Falklands to be cold and wet ´´Just like home´´. They established a colony in 1765 on one of these islands, but in 1764 the French also discovered the island and established a colony on the other side of the Falkland’s.
Then the Spanish showed up and said that a lot of years earlier they had drawn a line on the map that said ´´all of this belongs to Portugal and all of this belongs to Spain´´. Since French and Spain was good friends and Spain where willing to pay a cash money the French obliged. French said ´´Do not let those dirty English take over your side of the island´´. So, Spain went over to the English and said it is our island, and the British said ´No it is our island, but the Spanish had more guns and forced the British out of the Falkland’s.’
