'This is England' film review

Summary:

The Movie this is England, is about a troubled boy growing up in poverty. The setting takes place back in the summer of 1983 in the Northern England during the Falkland war. We follow the main character Shaun’s development and how he has to cope with his fathers dead, who was taken from him and his mother in the war.

One day after school Shaun gets into a fight with one of his classmates who makes an offensive joke about his father and the way Shaun dresses. He gets really upset, but then on his way home from school he meats a group of guys sitting below a bridge. The group is called “Skinheads.” Woody the leader of the group feels sympathy for Shaun and invites him to join the group. Along with the rest of the group he takes Shaun under his wing. Even though the members are much older than Shaun. Since that day they become his new best friends and the closest resemble to a family.

Spending all this time with the Skinheads, he also meats his first love. It’s a punk girl named Smell, even though she is older than him they fall in love.
