”Smile” is a text written by Deborah Moggach. She wrote the story in the year 1987. In the story we hear about a girl named Sandy, she lived alone with her mother. The economy between the mother and Sandy wasn’t good. They spend really much of their life moving around.
I think that the headline really means to tell the story because the smile badge, the whole story gives a feeling of having to smile all the time. I think that’s a really good thing because it’s not all story’s that do that.
I would mean that this line is a good example – “ suppose it came from not having much of a home myself, what with my dad leaving, and Mum moving in and out of lodgings, and me being in and out of care”. If a child constantly move in and out I think it can cost something in life, and the childhood, because the child don’t get close friends if they move constantly. And I think it mark on how she become this day today.
Sandy was also left behind when she was a little girl, so they don’t really know each other.
The story has many themes I would say the main themes is, Growing up, missing a home, teen pregnancy, father issues, unknown. In the story we really feel the theme “growing up”. Because Sandy starts to be a really shy girl, and then she meets the man, and she finally felt love for the first time in long time. We can really feel and see that she missed a home.
