It is difficult to be a teenager, and I think Kim from Prospect House will agree with me. In Frances Childs’ short story “Prospect House” (2002) the main character Kim deals with the struggles of breaking the social heritage. At first her new house mates meet her with violence, but later they start taking care of each other, and support her through pursuing her dream of a better life and becoming an actress. Di, Andrea, and Gina all dream about getting pregnant, so they could move up to Sussex House and have their own place. But Kim wants something different. She gets part in a play and sees it as her way out, and with the support of her friends, she can begin her new life.
