It is really hard to be a teenager these days. You will have to find your own personality and your own way to do things. It is when you are a teenager you should make mistakes and do not regret, but is it that way? Does teenagers not regret? You fall in love - brake up and fall in love again. It is difficult to be a teenager, and I think Kim from Prospect House will agree with me.

The short story Prospect House is told by a first person narrator “When I first arrived at Prospect House” (page 1 line 1), who is also the main character by the story. She goes by the name of Kim. Prospect House is a house where single teenage girls can come to get some structure in their lives. Those girls who live in Prospect House is often girls who has a difficult background, these girls need some help and that is what they get there. Many of these girls only live in the Prospect House for a while, because they get pregnant, the pregnant girls then transfers to Sussex House. Kim is a teenager who now live in Prospect House. She went to Prospect House because she was fired from her last job in the northern seaside. She messed it up, because she had sex with people she barely knew, and she did not do her job properly. She was very thin and had have hepatitis B, therefore was she very yellow. She had a rough start at Prospect House because she threw a knife at Di to prove that she was not afraid of them. (Page 1 lines 26 to 27) “I saw an advert in the paper for a local Am Dram group; they were performing a play, The Crucible” (page 2 lines 34 to 35). Kim also wanted to be something and do not want to stay in Prospect House (Sussex House) like Di and Andrea. Kim also says, “AS I read I realize I’ve never wanted anything so much in my life” (page 3 lines 100 to 101). She really want to be something and get a “normally” life, to take care of herself. Kim do not have parents or mother because she says, “Linda is a large, matronly middle-aged lady and comes round in the morning and shouts at us to get out of bed. We like her really; she’s kind to us and reminds us of the mothers we might have had” (page 2 lines 38 to 41). No mother to tell her about important stuff (girl stuff).
