I am looking forward to visiting you and your Family in Canada and seeing your country. I am really looking forward to spending Christmas and New Year with you, but it will also be exciting as it will be my first-time spending Christmas and New Year in another country. I can't wait to see how everything works in Canada, because I don't know anything about how Christmas and New Year’s Eve are in Canada. What traditions do you have in Canada? In Denmark we celebrate Christmas eve on the 24th of December where we dance around the Christmas tree and open presents afterwards. Which day in Canada are you celebrating Christmas? What do you get to eat at Christmas in Canada? In Denmark, we have pork and duck for dinner, and we have “risalamande” for dessert which is a kind of rice pudding with almonds. What about New Year's, what traditions are there in Canada? In Denmark you jump into the New year, and when the clock strikes 12 you get a wreath cake and champagne. Before dinner You also sit together as a family and hear the queen’s new year speech. The Christmas tradition that means the most to me is dancing around the Christmas tree, because there you do something as a family and can get a little smile on and in our family we have a tradition at the end of the singing where we running around in the house and singing ”nu det jul igen”. So, what is the most important thing for me at New Year, I would say the most important thing for me at New Year is the tradition when you jump into the new year together and go around and give everyone a hug and wish them a happy New year. The worst Christmas tradition we have is going to church because it's so boring and I’m always close to falling asleep in the Church and the worst thing about New year is probably waiting until midnight because that's when the party starts, but I don't really think there's anything bad about New Year. Because it is a night with my family and friends where all is in a good mood.
