Martin Luther King Jr.'s 'I Have a Dream' tale

My name is Mahalia Jackson, and I am a Gospel star. Me and Martins relationship was good, we knew each other in person, and sometimes we met in our spare time. I was first-hand witness to the “I have a dream” speech of Martin Luther King in 1963 in front of the Lincoln Memorial in Washington D.C. I was so grateful for being one of the 250.000 people being at the event and hearing Martin Luther King speaking that iconic speech. I was standing behind the civil rights movement leader (Martin Luther King) on the podium.

When I was at the vent in middle of the speech, I witnessed that Martin wasn’t saying everything he wanted to say, and I knew he got a lot more to say than just a 4-minute-long speech. So, at one point of the speech, I called out loud so Martin could hear me, “Tell ‘em about the dream, Martin, tell ‘em about the dream!”. The speech was scheduled to be 4 minutes long, but he ended up speaking for 16 minutes, in what would become one of the most iconic orations of the civil rights movement and of human history. But what was the message behind the speech and what the opinion about the speech? Martin was the leading figure in National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. So, his thoughts of the speech were, just as he told in the speech that, he would like his children to grow up in a country where they are not judged by their skin of their color, but a lot more by their character. Martin Luther King was married and father of four children at the time. After the event the speech didn’t make America as good as Martin wanted it to be, but there was big progress. 5 years later Martin Luther King got Assassinated on 4 April, 1968. He was born at January 15, 1929 – He died on 4 April 1968, he only got 39 years old. As what I have been told he got assassinated by a man named James Earl Ray who was an American criminal, he killed Martin at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, Tennessee. It was some tough years when Martin got killed, because we knew each other in person, and we had a good relationship. I think that Martin Luther King was one of the bravest and inspirational men I have ever seen and met.
