He gave his speech in 1963 in Lincoln memorial, Washington DC
They occasion was the Southern Christians Leadership Conference
This is the 16th president of the USA, Abraham Lincoln
More than 200.000 people attended the March on Washington
In 1964, when he was 35 years old, the youngest man ever, to receive the Noble Peace Prize
He talked about the coloured Americans who are still not free, because they are slaves. He said that it is not fair, as it is stated in the American Constitution, that every man is equal and they are not. They had come to this demonstration to protest against that every man is not equal. They demand to get part of the freedom and justice that the white people have. They will never get satisfied as long as there are signs stating “for white only”. He knew they have been suffering for a long time but they should keep working in the faith of one day they will get freedom. He told them to go back to the slums and the ghetto’s and somehow knowing that their situation can and will be changed, he had a dream that America will live up to their obligation that every single man is born equal. He had a dream that his kids, and everybody’s kids will not be judged by their skin colour but their personality and how they react to other people. And with this faith he says that everybody will be able to work together, in the hope that one day they will all be free.
