throughout the years' people’s perspective on what values in life has changed. A few decades ago, people used to value such things as love, having a good wealthy family, etc. But in today's day, those values have changed.
Today people are more focused on feeling valued by society. People feel the urge to be perfect in everything they do, they feel the need to be validated by social media, male validation, academic validation, etc... It is something that a lot of people struggle with and would say it's some sort of addiction. Today it's normalized to find validation by everything but the individual self. A lot of young people feel the need to be validated by random men on the internet because their approval isn't enough, it's not enough to love yourself, you apparently need other people's opinions about every single thing you do. I did an interview to back up my point with one of my good friends who wants to be unidentified. “Yea I constantly feel the need to be approved by everyone else but myself, it’s like my own opinions are not what matters”. I think that this is rooted in the problem of not being able to handle any form of rejection or being disliked.
