The article is written on January 10, 2010, by Nancy Franklin. The primary subject is the new show “Jersey Shore” where her opinion comes into view behind the lines. You can see that on the page 2, line 5“A group of carefully, cannily chosen people with big personalities—or personality disorders—are thrown together”. We don’t really get any information about her life, for example. About her family, education, or occupation. This would make us understand her viewpoints more.

In her language she sometimes uses some similes like on page 3, line 18“Like pasties in a burlesque show or thong underwear, bleeps are a saucy wink at the rules” and on page 3, line 21 “I am like a praying mantis—after I have sex with a guy, I will rip their heads off” She helps us to understand the text with using similes, and that succors us to get to the point of her sentences. She’s not really using oxymoron or hyperboles. Her sentence structures are in an aggressive tone, she is not really holding her opinions or her thoughts about the show back. A good example of this is on page 3, line 30 “Who knows how many hours of dull footage had to be thrown away in order to get such gems? Many hundreds, I’m guessing; even the biggest narcissist needs coaching when it comes to appearing on camera.” This shows her opinions about the show, and she is not scared of saying in it a kind of aggressive tone. Her sentences are sometimes long, and some of them are short – this switches a lot. She uses a combination of compound-complexed structure sentence, and simple structure. Line… She is incredibly detailed and specific in her article, and she tries to make us understand the meaning behind what she is writing, with using the before mentioned aggressive tone and similes. She wants to prove that the show is ridiculous with telling us some different things about the show, and maybe she is holding back other information about the show that could be seen as being “good”. This article would usually appear in magazines, and it is mostly a reliable source. It makes it a reliable source because of the way she is expressing the show, and she provides arguments throughout the story. She is referring a lot to the show when she makes arguments, and tries to express the show, which makes it seem more dependable.
