The Mohawk revolt at Oka. In 1990 a 150 day long revolt took place in the town of Oka in Quebec. The Mohawk Indians were tired of the immigrants they had welcomed to their land four and a half centuries ago but who now wanted to rob them. Tired of the town council who decided to take over their territory to enlarge the golf course. The Mohawks would not stand by and watch what they believe were white men sealing Indian Territory. They build roadblocks, barricades and strung up barbed wire to prevent invading policemen and town council members. Wednesday
