The article “I’m a Trans Athlete. I’d rather be myself than win” from 2023 Is about Iszac Henig, a varsity swimmer and senior at Yale University, who all his life has felt different and uncomfortable in his own body. During his sophomore year, he feared showing his queerness but found peace and comfort in his swimming, where his strength and masculinity were celebrated. He was successful on the women’s team and got the offer to join the men’s swimming team but decided to stay with the girls. He later decided to switch to the men’s team for his last college season because he felt a lot more comfortable there, both in the locker room and in how they celebrated. He ends by telling how grateful he has been for all the support, especially from the trans athletes, and how strong the athletic community is.

This is exactly what Iszac Henig writes about in his article “I’m a Trans Athlete. I’d rather be myself than win” from 2023. Henig expresses his feelings and thoughts about transitioning and participating on the swimming team for both women and men.
