Write a short essay in which you analyse Eric Hoffer's essay "Nature and the City".

In your essay, you must focus on argumentation, the use of rhetorical devices and the writer's intention.

“Nature and the city”, is a short text about a man talking about his relationship with nature. Eric Hoffer, an experienced migratory farm worker and placer miner, is writing about how he feels nature is after him, and how it is harming his body. Eric was an American longshoreman, who also was a philosopher, and author of essays.

Other than that, Eric doesn’t share anything else about his background. Eric also focuses on the American society, and how they tame nature. He’s talking about how humans thrive better in nature, and how their future depends on how they will tame nature. Also saying that nature is hostile to them nowadays, and how the cities are more adapted to our needs. He compares America to Europe, how there isn’t any news about a sandstorm or tornadoes in Europe, and in America, there’s constant news about it. Even questioning if America is fit for human beings. He goes on to praise and say how it is a miracle that they have made cities, and suggests that, in about fifty years, they should regrow forests, cleanse the rivers and so on.
