Argumentative “You can have all the gun control laws in the country, but if you don’t enforce them, people are going to find a way to protect themselves. They need to recognize that bad people are doing bad things with these weapons. It’s not the law-abiding citizens, it is not the person who uses it as a hobby”. There are around 100,000 victims of gun violence each year.
Action needs to be done so American citizens do not feel unprotected going into a public environment. By tightening gun control laws, America can become a safe place for everyone and keep guns out of the hands of people tempted to make bad choices. Tightening gun laws is essential for the US to save lives. These violent acts are getting worse.
It shows that one of the things a lot of political figures can’t agree on is background checks. About 60% of all gun sales in America take place without any background check whatsoever. On average, also 40% of gun sales occur under private sales with “no questions asked.” Yet there is about 90% of Americans agree, background checks should appear to keep it out of the hands of misguided persons. The other side of this argument of not wanting to have background checks goes back to our 2nd Amendment which states that citizens have the right to “keep and bear arms. But there comes a point where there shouldn’t be firearms in the hands of criminals, drug dealers, fugitives, the mentally unstable, and other unpredictable people who can’t deal with this responsibility (“Shootings Expose...”). There are many cases where this fear of someone handling guns, they aren’t responsible enough.
