“I grew up as most kids do, with a dream of becoming a professional basketball player. But for me that dream was near impossible to accomplish, I lived in the Bronx. There was a lot of crime. I didn’t know my dad, and my mom was working a lot, so she could pay the bills. But she made just about enough money to put me in basketball camps in the summer. I became good enough to play on the high school basketball team. My first year was okay, I didn’t get much playing time, but I proved that I could play ball. In my second year I got into the starting lineup, I put up good numbers and got multiple division 1 offers for college. When I got to college, I got a horrible injury. I was told that I could never play competitive basketball again. So now I am just going around New York and playing with people. I learned that even if you don’t achieve your dream, you can still find happiness. Now my happiness comes from playing basketball for fun and having enough money to help my mom. I think it’s important to find things that make you happy even when you are sad.”
