The story takes place as the title indicates in a park. It is about a woman and her husband Morton enjoying a day in the park with their son Larry, who is playing in the sandbox. All of a sudden another boy throws sand at Larry, Larry’s mother tries to make the boy stop but she can’t. The other boy’s father encourage his son to keep on throwing sand if that’s what he want to do. Morton tries to settle the little conflict, but the other man seems to want to fight. So Morton does what he finds is right and walks away from the situation.

We are presented with the conflict between two families with two very different places in society. The differentness in each of the two families’ background comes to show in their lack of understanding for each other even when it comes to small maters like throwing sand at each other.

The text also shows how different right to one person can be wrong to another, and how to solve a conflict – by using smart words or brute force.

She is a very sophisticated woman.

She loves the peaceful moment at the playground, until the other boy at the park throws sand at Larry. She tries to tell him not to throw sand but his fat father tells him that he have the right to throw all he wants in public sand box without looking away from his comics.
