In George Orwell's novel Animal Farm, the conflict is all about when their wishes for equality and freedom fail to come true because of the political power among the pigs. Animal Farm starts with getting rid of humans to the need of humans and becoming more political than humans. The first chapter was about how much the animals starved and were mistreated by Mr. Jones. By that, the Old Major teaches the animals, then makes the anthem which is a song called “Beasts of England”. All in all, this essay will explore how Napoleon and Squealer achieved the transformation from a democratic society to an authoritarian regime.
The first step towards the establishment of an authoritarian regime is the elimination of opposition. In Animal Farm, Napoleon and Squealer gradually eliminate any animal who opposes them, such as Snowball. As it’s mentioned here, “At this, there was a terrible baying sound outside, and nine enormous dogs wearing brass-studded collars came bounding into the barn. They dashed instantly for Snowball, who most effectively sprang from his area simply in time to get away from their snapping jaws.”. Getting rid of Snowball made things a lot easier by showing the animals that Napoleon and Squealer are taking over Animal Farm. Napoleon has changed a couple of the original 7 commandments, E.g., when Napoleon slept in a bed and when Napoleon gives the chickens execution orders when they refuse to give up their eggs. These methods seek to frighten the animals and stop them from rising in rebellion.
