Is that a good thing? Is it good that a lot of teens have a fear of missing out on something?
No, it's not. That is why you should read this. Teens spend more time on their phones then outside playing or as some might say (touching some grass). They use approximately 30 hours a week on their phones. That is not good for the brain. Some teens might say that, they use social media to learn new stuff, but all it does is mess with their brains. The brain is split in 3 parts, the upper brain, the lower brain, and the hindbrain, and the upper brain is also known as a cortex (center). And that is the good part of the brain, it’s the part that remembers anything, and the part you use men you have to do something, like write an assignment or play football. That is the part that gets affected, when you use to much social media. Some parents don’t realize how much time, their kids use on their phones. They should pay more attention to their kids. Mostly kids use their phones to get away from the reality, if they are upset or sad. And that is the part where the parents should start and realize, that they should talk more with their kids. Now I’m not saying that they shouldn’t use social media’s but they should at least limit it. I also use social media’s but not 30 hours a week, I use about 10 to 15 hours a week on social media, to see what have happened in other countries or to follow up on some news, that is the positive things about social media that some kids also do. I also use for example Snapchat or messenger to communicate with my friends and my colleagues at work. And that is it, I don’t use I for anything more then that. And neither should teenagers, the have reached that age where they should be living their lives and to go out and experience the world. They should be curios and to make some mistakes. Social media doesn't help the kids to know the world, they need to experience it themselves.
