our youth – at what age should social media really be restricted?

The impact of social media on young people's well-being has become a widely discussed topic in

politics, public debates, and scientific research. Many argue that these platforms contribute to

psychological distress, particularly among adolescents.

I have witnessed firsthand how social media can take a hold of young people. It is a loop of endless

consumption. Hours can easily be spent scrolling through content that bombards young minds with

images of "perfect" bodies, harmful hate comments, unsettling news, and exaggerated

representations of reality. This is bad because it plants seeds of anxiety, as they confuse all these

artificial images and videos with real life.

If you were to ask me - young people should not have access to artificial intelligence (A.I) tools

from an early age – it interferes with their brain's ability to regulate emotions, form deep social

connections and focus attention. And they do not fully understand the potential dangers of sharing

personal information with A.I platforms, as it can be collected, analyzed, and then used to influence

behaviors in subtle ways. Though I would say that the age of young people, when they first begin
