Task 1

Read out lines 10 - 25 of text no 1 “Social media is an addiction that millennials' parents never had to face” and hand in your reading as an audio file/a podcast.

Task 2

Write a paper (400 words) in which you answer the following questions. Answer the questions separately.

Outline briefly, what is understood by the term social media addiction in the text.

Taking your starting point in the text, discuss some of the possible consequences of social media addiction.

Social media, what is that exactly? If you look up the definition of “social media”, the first thing that comes up, is that social medias are forms of electronic devices, that together creates a whole new community for the users of the devices. That is obviously one of the many good things, the social medias bring us. Because there is also a lot of bad things.

Most parents, born in the “baby boom period”, thinks that their kids, the millennials use their mobile phone, computer, tablet etc. way too much. They might have a point. The mobile phono is probably in some people’s minds the biggest issue, because it can be carried around and used everywhere. Every time teens and younger adults see their cut to look at their phone or something, they take it. It is very likely where the term FOMO, which means “fear of missing out” started at. People kept looking at their phono, in case someone had send a message or something, and suddenly, FOMO became a real problem in the modern society we live in today.
