I chose to talk about school shootings since it is a topic i have always been curious
about, how can so many school shootings happen in the us, compared to here in
europe where that number is basically 0?
School shootings are a safety threat to children, teachers and other staff in the school,
thats why it is important to talk about. I see it as being way too normalized in the us
almost like it is a commmon thing, and it shouldnt be. To me, as a european, school
shootings are such an absurd thing. How does a child or teenager even get the idea to
shoot up a school? Each day 12 children die from gun violence in America. Another 32
are shot and injured. Its so truly shocking.
The gunlaws and gun-culture of the US
In the us the gunlaws are so wildly different than here in denmark (or europe). They have
whats called “the second ammendment” which is the right to bear arms, that means
that anybody over the age of 18 can own a gun, with few exceptions, for example people
who have been convicted of certain crimes, felons, people with court orderes agaisnt
them regarding domestic abuse, with serious mental conditions ect.
