What is an endangered species? Define the term and explain why some species become endangered.

An endangered animal is when the species of that animal is at risk of extinction. This means

that its population has decreased to a dangerously low level because of poaching, pollution, or

its habitat has been drastically reduced to a point where it faces an elevated risk of extinction

2.

Choose five endangered animals from different parts of the world. What are the main

threats facing each species (e.g., habitat loss, poaching, climate change)?

the Sunda Island tiger also known as the Sumatran tiger is a critically endangered tiger that

lives on an island in Indonesia unfortunately, they are at critical risk of extinction because of

habitat loss, deforestation and poaching. because the tigers have also had conflicts with the

people living on the island it has often resulted into the tigers being killed. If one day the tigers

go extinct it would have major consequences because the tigers are playing such significant

role in the balance of their ecosystems. Their extinction would lead to overpopulation of their

preys and that would cause overgraze on the plants and that would disrupt the entire food

chain.
