Killing Lizards

The story is about a boy named Gavin a "twelve-year-old boy with unusually thick eyebrows" (p.1 L.5), he lives in Africa, with hs mother and father, he also has a sister named Amanda. Amanda goes to a boarding school in England. Gavin does not like his sister very much sins her fifteenth birthday. She gets all the attention from there mother, and he feals like she does not care about him. his relationship with his father is not mentioned that much, but we know that he is a proffesor in the Chemistry Department. It is Easter holiday, so Gavin and his friends had been shooting lizards with their catapults for three weeks. That day they go to do the sme thing, and suddently a friend of Gavin named David sais, that Gavins mother just passed by in a Volkswagen with a man. Gavin does ot belive that, so he just responded no she did not. Later on the boys go hom, exept Gavin who wants to stay to shoot Lizards, and suddently he hears a voice that he recognizes, so he follows that voice, and it turns out that his mother was fooling around with a man, and that he was zipping her dress up, and they drowe away. The story is not hard do understand, and you can tell that Gavin as a boy who needs more attention. in (p.2. L.16) " When he thought af his sister now, he that he hated her. Sometimes he wished the plane that was bringing her out of Africa would crash and she would be killed. Then there would only be Gavin, he would be the only child". He also has a dream of his father and sister (p.2. L.25) " It was a variation on the theme of his sister´s death, but this time it also included his father. His father and sister had died in a car crash and Gavin had to break the news to his mother. As she sobbed with grief Gavin would stroke her hair ad he´d seen done on TV in England, whispering words af comfort" I think that this tells us that he wants to spend more time with his mother and that he loves her dearly. He does not hate his father but he just gets mad at him (p.2 L.35) " He didn´t hate his father - he just got angry with him sometimes" There is an eksample in the thext where he mentions that his mother spends more time with his sister. (p.3. L.63) " he wished se bothered about him more, d things with him as she did with Amanda" and that could be the reason for his dreams, that he wants attention from his mother. I think that this story is great, and it is easy to read. you can almost feel this kids need of attention, and that he misses his mother, and that he is hurt that his sister gets all the attention. And i love the ending af the story, that the mother is with a nother man, because then Gavin has something an her, that he can use in form of revenge. To get his mothers
