According to the Aboriginal tradition has been here for 40,000 years. They came sailing here from Indonesia or islands in the Pacific. The aborigines have a creation report which they call The Dream Time. In the following millennia have the Aboriginal spread to many areas in Australia and is being built up in many communities. Early peoples hunters and gatherers. They hunted wild animal and total berries and roots. Indonesia's islands are not far to the north, so there has been a sea link to other ethnic groups and cultural influences. This will teach the aborigines to grow corn and other crops. Thus, the aborigines lived through millennia without significant influence from outside. They developed the hunting gear, including boomerang and musical instruments including didgeridoo. These two are the epitome of Australia. In the 1600s came the Dutchman Abel Tasman Sea past, but without going ashore. In 1771 came Englishman James Cook, who went ashore at several places along Australia's east coast. In his travel diaries he gave a detailed description of the places he went ashore, and his experiences with the peoples whom he encountered. By James Cook return to England spread rumours about the "new country" to Europe many countries.
