The Amish people came to the U.S in the middle of 1700 century. They came from counties like France and Germany. The Amish people came in two “waves” the first in 1730 and the second in 1810. They live typically in Pennsylvania and Ohio.
Today live the Amish still in the U.S they are around 230.000. And they are still fast growing.
Amish Family
The Amish family is the most important social unit in Amish culture.
7-10 kids are normally in the “Amish world” but if we take a look on a normally family in Denmark are only 2-3 kids normal. That’s crazy. .
An Amish girl can only married an Amish boy. And they can first have sex when they are married.
It is some of the rules they have to live in.
In an Amish family is the father the “boss” the father works all the day on a farm. The mother’s role in the family is to do the entire in the house like cooking and cleaning.
The Amish children go to school like us “normally people” but the Amish school is not like the schools in Denmark because in an Amish school is only one classroom where all students are together to warm the classroom up I winter using they a stove.
