Now it’s a week ago since I arrived to the United States of America. I am an exchange student and I am going to be in the United States to study one year in High School. After a very long trip, I arrived to the family I will be staying at. But in all the time I will be here, I will be living with 3 different families, but only going to one school - It’s a big school. I really like the locker’s and there is a lot’s of students. There is also many other exchange students, in my class there are 2 other exchange students, a girl from Sweeden and a boy from Spain.

The first day I was in school my teacher Mr. Harry told me to write about, how I find school life in United States different from school life in Denmark; Here in the US we only have a small break between the different classes, so that we can go and pick up our stuff that we have in our locker’s. But we don’t have enough time to stand and talk in the hallways. It’s not permitted to stand in the stairways, restrooms or around school gates and talk at any time between classes. We have to hurry up, so we can get to the next class. Any students who leaves the school without proper authorization may be given a minimum of 1 week of after school detention. In Denmark we have enough time between the classes to use the restrooms, talking girlgossip in the hallways and in the end of the break, wait in our own classroom until the teacher come back. We also have a big lunch break where there’s time to go out and play football or go on the internet or just hang out with your friends in the classrooms or hallways, plus visit the cantine or eat your lunch which you have carried with you. We can also go out from the school area and eat something from a pizzaria, baker shop or what you are hungry for. Some places we also have locker’s to put our stuff in, but we all carry them in a school bag, and there we have all our things. And if we are leaving the school we don’t get a detention, unless it is in the middle of a class. All of the student in the school in the US is eating together at the same time in the lunch hall everyday. There are different menues - todays lunch menu is cheeseburgers with fries or chicken nuggets with vegetables. It’s much cheaper than in Denmark.
