George lived in a small town near Budapest in Hungary. George’s father worked in a circus, but he died when George was very young. George’s family was poor, but George’s mother wanted her child to live in a free country and go to school where he would be educated. George traveled on a ship to America, on 3’Th class. It was a very long journey for a little boy, with no parents. When he finally came to America it just became more difficult for him.
The start
George had a tough start in America, he had no money, no home and he knew no one. Later George got a job as cowardly boy in the local restaurant, where he would earn 2 penny’s an hour, one workday for Geroge was usually 13 hours work. George worked for 13 years as cowardly boy before he got promoted to waiter. Then he earned 7 penny’s an hour. It was not much but it was enough to provide him with a home and some food. Geroge lived in a little department all by him self, he was use to be alone and take care of him self. And it had all ways been that way; if Geroge wanted to get something to eat, he would have to work before he would get any food.
