Cromwell had a very strong religious faith. He was a puritan which significant group English protestants. He didn’t liked that people played games and had fun, and ha had some harsh rules fx. He didn’t let church bells ring and you could only visit the church in your own village.
Or else you would be fined 50 pence – which back then was a lot of money. Also he replaced the stained windows with plain glass in the church.
He also belived that his trops had been chosen by god to perform his will.
Cromwell made a 'Godly reformation', which clamped down on drunkenness, immorality and other sinful activities.
