Creationism keeps trying to make its way into the science classrooms of public schools. The question of whether religion should be taught in public schools has been debated at length. In theory, since the Supreme Court explained that “we are to teach not preach and educate not indoctrinate”, the analysis could be simple. The only question would be, What is the underlying purpose behind the content? Not only are there schools in Texas and Ohio which allow for the teaching of creationism in science class, defended as teaching the controversy, but Los Angeles and Tennessee even go so far as to have laws which allow teaching evolution to be optional. |
