Summary of 'The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe'

The story starts in London during the 2nd world war (1940-1945). Peter, Susan, Edmund and Lucy were sent away, because of the air raids. They were sent to an old professor that lived in the middle of the country. From here, they came into the land of Narnia. They thought that the house was the biggest they had ever been in to. There were 10 minutes walk from their room to the dining room. Creepy with all those stairs, doors and the big rooms. It was almost impossible to figure out which way to go.We think this house isn’t nice, because it is a big house, and there is only one man living there (and his housekeeper and three servants). It’s missing the cosiness of a small house, and it’s to empty.

Susan is thinking positively. She thinks that they will have a lot of fun. There are so many possibilities, e.g. library, wireless, and the surroundings were huge. Edmund is negative about the rain, and thinks that there is nothing exciting to do inside except exploring the house.Peter and Lucy don’t really have an opinion, but they’re just following the other two.

Their first day there, they wanted to explore the surroundings, but it was raining and fuggy, so the spent the day inside exploring the house instead; the long corridors and all the rooms (page 25) When they enter a specific room, they find a wardrobe in it, that Lucy finds her interest in. The other leave and Lucy stays behind. She opens the wardrobe, and finds herself in front of fur coats. She goes in to the wardrobe (does not close the door), and after a while walking in the wardrobe, she finds herself between branches and snow. She has entered the land of Narnia.
