You look in your empty fridge. You go immediately to the supermarket where you can find everything, from small stuffs like milk and eggs to makeup and a one-wheeled cycle. Your trolley is filled up with so many stuffs you need or like.

A lonely person, a happy or sad person, a lazy person and a trouble kid and so on, they all have different stuffs in their trolley. They take what they want. Can you see by looking in a trolley, what kind of person you are dealing with?

“Shopping for one” by Anne Cassidy is a great story, because the message is a possibility answer for my question. The main character is Jane, who we follow in a supermarket, and we get her thoughts so it’s an omniscient narrator. Jane is a lonely person, which we can see, when she find the book “cooking for one” and plus we hear about once, when she was happy together with her boyfriend, and now she feels embarrassed about her trolley. It is almost empty. And that’s how she feels with herself, she feels that she is nobody, and her trolley is screaming to everybody, that she is single, unhappy, has no friend and it seems to me, that she almost is depressed, because there are signs, like when she wait in the queue and dreams about the past, and she wait impatient. She is frustrated and it doesn’t help her, when the women talks to her friend about a man. It makes it worse.
