1) An outline of the various views on plastic surgery for teenagers which are presented in texts 1 and 2:

In the first test, ‘Plastic surgery for teens’, Valerie Ulene, specialist in preventive medicine in Los Angeles, tells that the use of plastic surgery is grown marked the last years and more than 330,000 adolescents underwent cosmetic procedures in 2007. The most popular surgical procedures were nose jobs, breast augmentation, ear reshaping and liposuction. The adolescents undergo these procedures because they want to be attractive. They are constantly bombarded with images of beautiful people who are held up as the norm and we have made a decision about what beauty looks like in the world. Teens in particular want to fit the mold. Many plastic surgeons mean that cosmetic surgery can improve teenagers’ self-esteem for instance if a girl has a large nose or a flat chest it could be the source of teasing and ultimately self-imposed isolation.

Ulene gives an example from his own life. He does not like his nose, and think both it is too big and hooked. He thinks it is a part of who he is and now the nose is no longer the problem. He is 44 years old and his aging skin haunts him now. So when you have undergone one cosmetic surgery you can always find another problem. There are so many people who chance their appearance at last anybody looks like each other.
