The text, Beware a Senior Society, has a very negative way to see on the subject, technology. The text describes all the bad things that will happen if we start to prolong our lifetime. Our bodies can handle more years, but not our brains and especially not our memory. Another problem will be all the people. If people continue having babies and the old people are getting older than will there be too many people on the Earth. There will also be problems to have enough food and space for everybody. Pace 224 line 33 says: “A total of 6 billion people already tests the Earth’s carrying capacity; to add legions of the elderly could crash the whole system.” The text comes with a solution. We can enforce, like in China, the one-child-per-couple. Compare to the text 2BRO2B is the Earth in this text totally filed out with people so the one-per-couple rule has been enforced. Then you can say that in this text, Beware a Senior Society, there is a kind of fear.
One of the poems tells us about all the thoughts a woman makes about being old. She is looking forward to be this ignoring old lady because then she has an excuse for doing the oddest things. This poem is called: “Warning” and it’s written by Jenny Joseph. Another poem is called: “The Last Decision.” Maya Angelou is the writer. In her poem she shows how it’s to be old and sick. There is not a lot of joy in this poem. It’s very sad. You are loosing so much when you are old. Line 12 and 13: “They stand at my bed and move their lips, and I cannot hear one single word.” This short line tells how lonely you must be when you are old and sick. It’s not a very happy thought Maya Angelou puts in the reader’s head.
