In UK many of the old British pubs are been replaced of a new generation of pubs where the air is fresh, there are served good food and the lights are on. And because people not just are interested in drinking beer anymore, the new pubs are not just about drinking, like the old British pubs. They are just as much about eating as drinking. Many of them are the so-called “gastro pubs”. These gastro pubs are filling the gap between fast food and fine restaurants. You can get everything from pasta to ostrich stew. And in some pubs they even serve tea and coffee and a supply of newspapers through the day. All these changes are a big part of the success the new pubs are having. Because people like good food, and they really approve all the choices they have. And a very important thing people like are that the prices are relatively cheap. The prices attract many people.

Another important reason for the success is the establishment of the pubs. The old British pubs were small rooms filled with smoke and with subdued light. It was almost only men sitting drinking a beer or two and being social with each other. The new pubs have a lot of space. They are in big rooms like vacant banks, car showrooms and old theaters, with bright paintwork and scrubbed floors. There is lighter in the rooms and the air is fresh, because there is not as much smoking as before. So it’s a really nice place, where you would like to be social and have a good time.
