U.S.A. is a democratic federal republic. It consists of 50 states. U.S.A. lies between Canada (north) and Mexico (south). 48 of the 50 stats lays in the central North America, the last two lays in north-west Canada and Hawaii lays in pacific ocean west the U.S.A. The capital of the United States is Washington D.C, and the second large city is New York. The president of the United States is Barack Obama. There are living 300 million people in the country. U.S.A. is the fourth largest country and the third most populous country in the whole world.

Christopher Columbus 1451-1506

In 1492, Christopher Columbus sailed on an expedition across the Atlantic and found North America. He thought it was India, and called the native for Indians. Before that, people in Europe didn’t know there was “another side” of the Atlantic Ocean. But in 1492-1620 European ships traveled over the Atlantic Ocean, to find out what this new land was hiding. Especially Spain, Britain and France traveled to the new country, and establish thousands of colonies there.

The Colonial America 1497–1776

England, France and the Netherlands began to colonize North America in the end of the 16th century. The first attempt failed, but successful colonies were soon established. France established their own colonial territory in North America, New France, which stretched over a larger territory than the British. The French and Indian War (1754-1763) made the colonies close to each other young men were sent out to battle and met other men from other colonies. After the war England was trying to controls in the region. After they had left the colony runs by its people. This made the colony even closer together and they came at edge with the British government.
