Michael Jackson og berømmelsens mørke side

I think the best example of how bad fame can get, is Michael Jackson. He startet singing with his 4 brothers, when he was very young, only 6 years old, and his father was very desperate and wanted them to be famous so they could earn some money, and he pushed them into the very tough business, without giving them the choice. He also mistreated the kids by whipping them and he told Michael that his nose was to big and his look wasn’t right. Soon people heard Michael’s voice and they loved it. He got very famous, and got booked to concerts all the time. That continued the next years so he never experienced his childhood and teenage years.

Because of all the pressure, especially from his father, he started concentrating a lot about his look, and he started getting operations to change his nose especially. He also began –mysteriously- to get white skin instead of his original color, black. He said it was a disease, but some think that he was operated. He was getting extremely weird, and you could see in his eyes that he was very unhappy and depressed. Because he never had a normal childhood, he never knew if his friends wanted to be friends with him because of his personality or because he was famous, and he didn’t get any privacy AT ALL.He never tried anything else but being stalked and have fans and paparazzi’s every time he stepped out of the door. He was a legend, he sold over 750 million albums, and he is known as the King of Pop, so of course there is a lot of pressure. One of the things that gave him a lot of attention was his operations. He never thought he had the right look, and I think that it’s very normal in that business –to be unsure about your self and your look. You need to be slim and fit, and you need to have the perfect face. Otherwise they get judged. And some idols get obsessed about their looks. One of them is Michael Jackson. On June 25, 2009 he died, 51 years old, by an overdose of anaesthetic, his personal doctor is accused of killing him, and I actually don’t know what that case ended with. But the thing about Michael is that there is so many people that look up to him and dance as he do and dress as he do, and a lot of people want to live his life, because he got the fame, he got the money, and he got the talent. But there is always a dark site, and Michaels was just darker than some others.
