Nun report 12. June 1958 dear priest. I have worked on this orphanage for over 10 years. I want to complain, because the children's living conditions are so much unacceptable, even can animals not live in the orphanage. I have never in my whole entire life seen so many unhappy children, on one place. The children cry all the time. One cries more than the other.
I write to you because the rule the Government have introduced, is more than wrong. You cannot take these small aboriginal children from their parents in this age, and get them to behave like white people.
The children need help. The orphanage is cold, moldy and ancient. When the children need food, give the employees stale bread and cold soup. Children smell like shit, they go to bathe in mud, for washing our teeth with soap. Twenty-eight children are sleeping in a room of 900 square meters, they sleeping on the cold floor, and have no rugs. Many of the children, have had pain back, so therefore have many not been able to participate in events and in teaching.
The children have nowhere to play; there are no playgrounds and football fields. The children become obese, if they do not sport, they can die of their obesity.
