"A child is any human being below the age of eighteen years, unless under the law applicable to the child, majority is attained earlier."
The field of children's rights spans the fields of law, politics, religion, and morality.
Over this sentence, you can see some statements about children's rights. I think the most important rights for children are:
You have the right to parents who take care of you, give you care, security and protection.
No adults may strike you or use some form of physical or mental punishment against you.
You have the right help and advice from the municipality. You are entitled to help from the nurse, doctor and dentist.
Rights apply to all Danish children - The rights make you feel good and protected. I have never thought of that as a child I had / have these rights. But when you start to think about it, you will be very happy that these rights for children are available. If they had not been there, many children would be unhappy and neglected. Very few times I have availed myself of my rights when I go to the dentist or the doctor and not have to pay. Otherwise, there are of course my rights to school and care. But even though we have these rights, not all children go to school, to the doctor or have any parents. Many children in Africa do not have the same rights as children in Denmark, and most children in Africa do not know their rights. It is sad to think that they cannot go to the doctor if they are sick. Or that someone has lost their parents and do not know they have the right to help.
