Gabrielle Chanel was born in Saumur in France 1883 19th august by an unwed mother named Jeanne Devolle, a laundrywoman, in “the charity hospital”. And a father named Albert Chanel was an itinerant street peddler who lived a nomadic life.
Gabrielle’s mother Jeanne died of bronchitis in 1895. Jeanne was just thirty-one years old. Gabrielle had an older sister Julia-Berthe who was one year older than Gabrielle. Their father send them to the Corréze in central France to the convent of Aubazine, whose religious order, the congregation of the sacred heart of Mary, was “founded to care for the poor and rejected, including running homes for abandoned and orphaned girls”. At age eight-teen Gabrielle Is too old to remain at Aubazine. Gabrielle and her sister Julia-Berthe went to live in a boarding house.
Why and how she did get interested in fashion and design.
With their six years learning of sewing art at the Aubazine Gabrielle and Julia was able to find employment as seamstress. When they didn’t work as seamstress, they sang in a cabaret frequented. It was there Gabrielle got the name “Coco”, because she sang a popular song named cocotte it was a baron named Balsan who started to call her Coco. Balsan was really fascinated by Gabrielle “Coco” Chanel. At age twenty-three Coco became Balsan’s mistress, and for the next three years coco lived with him, in his chateau Royallieu near Compiègne. Balsan tried to get Coco in a big over decorated dress, but Coco wouldn’t agree to do that so she started too dress like a man,
