– The famous man from Ireland. Bonos real name is Paul David Hewson, but he is well knows as Bono. He was born on May 10. 1960, at a hospital in Dublin, called Rotunda Hospital. So his current age is accordingly 48 years. Bono is the lead singer in the world-famous band, U2. He grew up in Dublin with his parent, Iris Rankin and Robert Hewson. His parents had two different religious persuasions. His mother was a Protestant and his father was a Roman Catholic. Bono became a Protestant with his mother and his brother. But at the age of 14, he suffered a tragic and devastating loss, when his mother died of a brain thrombosis whilst attending the funeral of her own father. After that, Bonos life became very difficult, and that made him pursue his dreams even more than before. And one of them was to do something within music. On his school there was an advertisement, where he could come to some kind of audition so they could make their own band. Bono was determined to go, even though he at that point didn’t play any music. He tried as the guitarist, but that he wasn’t so good at, so he ended up being the lead singer of the band. At first the band was called Feedback, later The Hype, and then U2. U2 songs became quickly hits on the charts. They created their own sound and a good reputation. One of the things they were known for was their very gripping stage performing. And of course Bono was and still is known for his very characteristic sunglasses. Bono is almost never seen in public without sunglasses, they are his trademark.
