The Amish people: a different way of life

The Amish people live in different states in America. The group of Amish people became Amish people in 1700. The Amish people is a group for itself. It doesn’t use any kind of electricity.The most conservative old groups of Amish drive horses and buggies rather than cars. Many have no telephones or electricity in their homes. But they have a telephone outside if there would come an accident one day. The Amish don’t accept modern things because they think it would be different and their lives would not be the same if they were used to electricity and that kind of things. The Amish children go to school like others do. They go in a school only for Amish people. Their parents send their children to private, one-room schoolhouses until the age of 13. They are against baptizing in a young age and suggested it should be postponed until adult life.

The only problem, I think there is, is that the Amish do not go to hospital when they need help, only if it is very urgent. They say no to money from the state, as they want to show their independence from modern society. They speak Pennsylvanian Dutch and keep it as a tradition but they also speak English. They are hardworking people. There are many people who do not think that they the right to live the way they do, and I would say yes! They have all the rights to practice their religion and they are giving their children a chance when they are in rumspringa. They give them a chance to decide if they want to be or not. I think the Amish have a special but interesting culture. They can change themselves, but they should not do it, just because some people maybe think it is stupid what they do and how they live in their religion. I also think that it is good when they are in rumspringa that they can try to live in an English way, and that they can say yes or no. But I think it is stupid of the family. If they are not Amish people for life they don’t want to talk to them anymore.
