Science report!

Today was the day of science for the children who attend 9. grade. It was an inspiring, amazing and unspeakable day with lots of science that nobody had ever seen before “in the history of science”. To the 9. grades it was more like a day to see how a college is and ask the pupils, who attend the college how it is to go to college. We were put in groups and every group had their trial to work on and to show the visiting children how it was done and how much we knew about science. We were ?ve people in our group Amar, Maia, Andrea, Batoul and I. We had to perform a trial called, “Silver balls manufactured in Santa’s workshop”. “Silver balls manufactured in Santa’s workshop” was the most wanted trial in my class, and fortunately I got it, and I was happy about it. What was the skill with our trial? Our trial was about making silver balls only with some chemicals and an amazingly unknown secret that makes the silver ball appear that’s called “the magic powder!”. How did we perform the trial? We performed the trial by ?rst using a round bottom ?ask and adding some silver nitrate and some sodium hydroxide and surprisingly an ugly brown precipitate appeared. You keep adding ammonia and swinging the round bottom ?ask until the ugly brown precipitate disappears. When the ugly brown precipitate has disappeared you add “the magic powder!” to the round bottom ?ask. (“The magic powder!” is glucose. ;) ) You keep swinging the round bottom ?ask, just keep swinging and shaking and swinging and swinging until you will see a thin layer of the free silver appearing on the sides of the round bottom ?ask. Now you have your silver ball ready to get on the christmas tree! While we were doing the trial we were wearing pixie hats, and the 9. grades children thought that it was very funny that we were wearing pixie hats while performing the trial.
