“Flowers for Algernon” is a text about a simple-minded 37-year old man with the name, Charlie Gordon. He has written some progress reports concerning his situation as a person with feelings and as a “test animal”. The reason why he has written the reports was that he was going to be part of an experiment or operation, which was going to triple his I.Q. In the beginning his I.Q. was 68 and he will get an I.Q. that will overcome 200. But before he could get this operation done, he was going to take some tests to see if he was the one for the operation. Two doctors have thought out the experiment, dr. Stauss and dr. Nemur. He could not pass the tests, but he had got some qualities and those qualities had also been noticed by his adult night school teacher Miss Kinnian. It was his courage and motivation and the ability to keep on going when it looked the worst. Those qualities were also the reason why dr. Nemur was convinced to use him in the experiment. But before he was picked for the operation, Charlie also competed with a mouse called Algernon in being the first through a maze. Algernon won every time.
